FAQS

Is your business insured?

LPS is fully insured with liability and property insurance which would cover anything from property damage in your home to damage to doors in transit.

How can I choose a color?

By far the most overwhelming part of preparing for any paint job is choosing a color.  Whether you’re painting walls, cabinets, or a piece of furniture the color is the biggest decision of any painting project. Leah’s Painting Service brings their knowledge and experience to help you make your choice.  They have everything from swatchbooks and color binders to sample cabinet doors that you can borrow in your home to help you narrow down a hue.

How long will the painted cabinets last?

Many factors contribute to how long the paint will hold up such as cabinet condition and maintenance. Caring for and cleaning your cabinets properly will extend the life of the painted cabinets. While I can’t give an exact time, many clients I have revisited who have taken proper care of their cabinets are still just as happy with them five or more years later. Leah’s Painting Service leaves the remaining paint with the client and has a video for DIY touch ups if your family is extra hard on the kitchen.

What does a typical week look like for a cabinet job?

Most of our cabinet jobs take four to five days to complete. On Monday we remove the doors and drawer fronts and transport them to an off-site paint studio for refinishing.  We use a sander and shop vac to sand the cabinet frames so there is minimal dust but more of a noise.  After wiping the sanded surfaces, we spend the rest of Monday and Tuesday priming and painting the cabinet frames.  The following day or two is spent off-site sanding, priming, and painting the doors and drawer fronts.  On the final day, the doors are carefully transported back to the client’s home and rehung on the frames.  Any new hardware is installed, and final touch ups are completed.  We always wipe down counters, sweep the floors, and leave the room cleaner than we found it.

What if I have knobs on my drawers but I want to switch to pulls?

We can switch from pulls to knobs or pulls to knobs. Just let us know before we start, and we can fill in old holes, drill new holes, and install new hardware.

What type of paint do you use?

We use different products for different purposes. For cabinets we use Benjamin Moore Advance. For other projects we use various Benjamin Moore or Sherwin Williams products.  Please reach out if you have a question about a paint product for a specific purpose.

How long does paint take to dry?

Paint usually dries to the touch within a few hours of finishing. However, paint can take a month to fully cure, so we advise our clients to be careful and gentle for at least 4-6 weeks after the job is complete!

What if I have dark rubber toe kicks below my bottom cabinets? Won’t that look bad once it’s painted?

Often, rubber toe kicks do look dated once the cabinets are refinished. I often do end up replacing them with wooden toe kicks painted to match the color of the cabinets. Looking at your color options before work begins can help you determine if you would like to change the toe kicks out as well.

How much does it cost to get an estimate done? How do I go about doing that?
